A tall, juicy, sweet and smokey vegan sloppy joe on a soft bun!
Meat alternative are all the rage these days.
Since we started doing Meatless Monday, I’ve been really enjoying making vegetarian and vegan dishes.
I’m sure you’ve heard about the Beyond Burger or seitan but have you tried Smart Ground?
These meatless grounds that look and taste very much like meat are usually made from pea or soy protein.
Most vegan options taste great and there is a good variety to choose from.
Some taste very much like real meat though I prefer the one that takes on whatever seasoning I like to pair it with.
For these vegan sloppy joes, I had to go BBQ sauce.
It is such a classic and reminds me of being a kid in summer camp!
To balance that sweet and smokey flavor, I love adding raw red onion and pickled jalapeño.
The raw red onion adds color and freshness and the jalapeño adds a bit of spicy.
Most burger buns are vegan but do check the ingredient list as some contain milk and other animal products.

Yummy!! I think I will try making this. Thanks for another awesome healthy recipe!
It looks so yummy and meatless ground is so versatile – meat loaf, spaghetti 🙂

AWESOME AMAZING AND ALL OTHER WORDS TO DESCRIBE GOOD EATING!
Soooo good. I used Lightlife ground for the plant based meat which is more than 2 cups so I doubled the sauce. I was lazy and used dehydrated onion. To make sure it was rehydrated, I added another 1/4 cup of water and let it simmer on low for 10 minutes or so to reduce to sauce. It turned out perfectly and was delicious. I will definitely make this again and again.
