Creamsicle-like, refreshing orange grapefruit smoothie!

This recipe is packed with fruit, vegan and has healthy gut probiotics!

Yes, citrus and kombucha and when citrus is in season, I stock up.

Adding kombucha not only adds flavor but also some effervescence.

Kombucha is a fermented tea that has been consumed for thousands of years.

Kombucha also contains antioxidants, can kill harmful bacteria and may help fight several diseases.

Not only do oranges, lemons, grapefruits and the like have so many health benefits but they are also very versatile for cooking.

I love them for making salad dressings, sauces, desserts and smoothies!

Oranges are a healthy source of fiber, vitamin C, thiamine, folate, and antioxidants. They have multiple health benefits.

For added color and flavor, I also like adding raspberries and pineapple.

For a bit of powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant boost, ground turmeric and black pepper is a great addition to this smoothie.

Many of these benefits come from its main active ingredient, curcumin.

The curcumin in the turmeric can boost brain function, lower risk of heart disease, and may help prevent cancer.

So let’s make some orange grapefruit smoothie!

Grab Your Blender

Add the juice of 1 orange and the juice of 1 grapefruit to your blender along with all of the other ingredients then blend on high until smooth.

If you choose to add the turmeric, I highly recommend adding the black pepper too as the turmeric does not get absorbed efficiently in the body without it.

In order for your body to really take in all of the health benefits turmeric has to offer, black pepper must be added.

My mouth is watering just thinking about these flavors!! Soo yummy and special; and citrus is so nostalgic of my childhood. I need to make this for my kids. Love the kombucha in there!

Looks so refreshing! I’ve been seeing a ton of citrus at the farmers market recently so this is so seasonal and perfect.

such a beautiful color!! We have been devouring the Texas Rio Star varitey of grapefruits these last few weeks….working it into a smoothie sounds like a great option!

this is lovely! how did you know I was craving a citrus smoothie? Does the kombucha go wildly fizzy after a whirl in the blender?

Hi Leslie-Anne! The kombucha pretty much looses its fizz once blended but the flavor still comes through and compliments the other flavors. I love using Health Ade Organic Pink Lady Apple Kombucha or Kevita Pineapple Peach Kombucha for this smoothie.

In a last 4 years smoothies were my go-to breakfasts, lunches or even dinners! especially combined with kombucha, yum!
