Ingredients
- 1.75 ounces Dark Chocolate
- 2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 0.25 teaspoon Sea Salt
- 22 ounces Hot Water
- 0.5 cup foamy Milk (I use Almond Milk)
Directions
A rich, not too sweet and super easy to make homemade hot chocolate!
This hot chocolate only has only 4 ingredients, some hot water and milk.
It takes less than 5 minutes to make and is the most cozy evening treat!
I prefer non-dairy milk, and usually have some homemade almond milk in my refrigerator, I love adding some foamy almond milk on top.
It’s much better than marshmallows in my opinion.
You can see in the video how beautifully my homemade almond milk foams.
It’s the perfect creamy and luscious topping for the hot cocoa.
Any kind of milk will work for this recipe.
A milk with a higher fat content will foam better.
This recipe uses cocoa powder and chopped dark chocolate for that rich chocolate taste.
The first warm chocolate beverage is believed to have been created by the Maya in Mexico about 2,500–3,000 years ago!
This drink was an essential part of Aztec culture by 1400 AD, by which they referred to as xocōlātl.
It then made its way over to Europe and the rest of the world!
Watch me make this cozy drink in the video below.
