Sweet and nutty hemp seed milk for a dairy free alternative.

I absolutely love making my own non-dairy milks at home. Some of my favorites are almond, cashew and hemp milk!

Hemp seeds have incredible health benefits and provide complete nutritional value.

These small yet powerful seeds contain a blend of omega-3 and omega-6 fats.

They are also high in fiber, protein, and contain quality amino acid profile.

Hemp seeds are also high in magnesium, a mineral that helps with relaxation, blood sugar control, blood pressure, and more!

Impressive isn’t it?

I do enjoy plain hemp milk with granola or with my morning coffee but it does have a bit of a grassy taste.

To make plain hemp milk, only 3 ingredients are needed.

In this post, I show you how to also make strawberry and chocolate hemp milk!

Steps

1
Done

Shelled Hemp Seeds

Let's talk about the hemp seeds.

Be sure to buy shelled/hulled and raw hemp seed. Preferably organic.

Shelled hemp seeds which is the whole seed with the crunchy outer shell removed, are also known as hemp hearts, shelled hemp seed or hemp nut.

2
Done

Blend The Hemp Seeds with Water and Salt

To your blender, add the hemp seeds, water and salt.

Blend on high until smooth for about 1 minute.

3
Done

Strain The Hemp Seed Milk

Next, using a nut milk bag, fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth, strain the milk.

Discard the hemp fibers.

4
Done

Plain Hemp Seed Milk

This hemp seed milk can be stored in an air-tight (preferably glass) container in the refrigerator and should be consumed within 4-5 days.

5
Done

Chocolate Hemp Seed Milk

Add the plain hemp milk, raw unsweetened cocoa powder and maple syrup to your blender and blend until smooth and well combined.

6
Done

Strawberry Hemp Seed Milk

Add the plain hemp milk, fresh or frozen (thawed) strawberries and maple syrup to your blender and blend until well combined.

You can also try this with raspberries or mango!

Hi! I store my hemp seeds in the freezer but you can also store them in the fridge in an air-tight container for up to 12 months. The milk will last about 5 days in the fridge.
