Homemade and easy salad dressings will take your dish to the next level!

In this post I am sharing my three favorites: Shallot and Balsamic, Lemon and Mustard, and Sweet Garlic Vinaigrette!

I love eating salads both warm or cold are a weekly staple for me.

It’s a great way to use up leftovers and pretty much anything goes!

However, one thing I do not skimp on is a good, homemade salad dressing.

I much prefer making my own because most store bought salad dressing use unhealthy oils and a ton of sugar.

A simple vinaigrette is easy to make and only needs three core ingredients.

First, a good quality extra virgin olive oil, something that comes in a dark and dark glass bottle.

Extra virgin olive oil contains anti-inflammatory substances, reduces oxidation of LDL (bad) cholesterol, improves blood vessel health, and lowers blood pressure.

Second, an acid like lemon or vinegar and a bit of salt.

I always have fresh lemons on hand.

Other than using the juice, you can also use the zest for the vinaigrette or add it directly into your salads!

Lemon juice provides acidity that you would usually get from a vinegar.

Always use fresh, store bought is not the same.

Fresh lemon juice, especially from organic lemons, supports heart health, can prevent kidney stones and can improve digestive health.

It is also packed with vitamin C which is important for immune function.

Give the dressing another good whisk before drizzling it over your salad.

These salad dressings should be stored in the refrigerator and last for up to 2 weeks.
