Tis’ the season for a cozy mug of hot chocolate with a pinch of cinnamon and a shot of espresso!
However, if it’s the middle of summer and you are craving that decadent chocolate drink, I will not judge you!
I love all kinds of hot cocoa. Add some marshmallows on top, make it spicy, extra frosty milk, any thing goes.
The only hot chocolate no no is using a pre-made packets!
Making a hot cocoa at home is so easy and you can customize it.
This drink is dirty because it has a bit of cinnamon and a shot of espresso.
If you are thinking that this drink is just like a mocha you are not incorrect!
I am using two different chocolate elements with the dark chocolate and cocoa powder. This keeps the drink chocolate forward rather than being a coffee beverage.
Using a high quality dark chocolate and unsweetened cocoa powder is key.
Just a bit of salt will enhance the flavor and sweetness. Don’t skip this step!
I am keeping it dairy free by using a non-dairy milk beverage. Homemade almond milk and oat milk are my favorite!

Good catch, sorry about that (I will edit asap)! It’s added along with the rest of the ingredients to the mug. To watch me make this drink, you can watch the video in this post.
