Growing up in Germany the standard breakfast and occasional dinner was a slice (or two) of crusty bread with butter and jam.

It’s safe to say that I love my jams, especially the berry kind.

The only problem with the store bought jams is that they are full of sugar. Too much sugar.

This easy, 4-ingredient chai jam is refined sugar free and will change your life! You can use fresh or frozen fruit. Any fruit you like!

Just 4-Ingredients

My favorite jam is raspberry as I love that sweet and tart combo. I've also used mixed berries, mango, even guava! Use whatever you like or have on hand.

I love using white chia seeds as it is a bit more pleasing to the eye but black chia seeds work as well.

Make The Chia Jam

Add your frozen or fresh fruit to a sauce pan with 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice and heat on medium heat.

If you are using a bigger fruit like mango or apple, be sure to peel and chop first.

Cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until the fruit has softened and it cooked through.

Next, using a cocktail muddler or a potato masher, mash the fruit so it is no longer chunky and remove from the heat.

Next, add 1/4 cup (or more) of maple syrup, depending on how sweet you like it. You can also use honey or agave.

If you are using a sweet fruit like mango, I recommend only adding 2 or 3 Tablespoons of sweetener.

Get a spoon and give it a taste. If you like it more sweet, add more maple syrup.

Next, add 2 tablespoons of chia seeds and mix well. All of the chia seeds should be fully absorbed in the fruit mixture.

Store

Allow the mixture to cool for a couple of minutes before transferring it to an airtight, clean glass container.

Once the mixture is fully cooled, store it in your refrigerator for up to 2 months!
