Aperol spritz cocktail is the ultimate summer drink!
This Italian apéritif is usually enjoyed before dinner or on a hot summer day for lunch.
Aperol, an orange-red liquor invented by the Barbieri brothers in Padova in 1919, is a go-to Spritz option.
The Aperol liqueur is made with gentian, rhubarb, and cinchona. These give it a very unique taste that pairs well with something fizzy.
This cocktail is a light and refreshing with the perfect balance of sweet and bitter.
It is usually served in a wine glass with ice and an orange slice.
In Italy, it is also commonly served with green olives!
This combination might sound strange but it’s visually stunning and quite nice.
Aperol spritz cocktail is served in most restaurants and bars and is almost always summer’s most popular drink.
Since I live in Florida and it’s summer all year round, I even enjoy it during the winter and spring months!
The New York Times recently described it as ‘Not A Good Drink,’ however, the response and backlash both online and on social media was overwhelming and the Aperol spritz continues to be a favorite among the crowd!
Even though there is a ratio to perfecting this drink, you can also eye ball it and adjust to your liking.
Some like it sweeter and more intense and others might like a bit less of the Aperol and more of the bubbly!
The most common ratio (and the easiest to remember) is the 3-2-1.
I hope you give this one a try!
