This vibrant and nutrient filled turmeric green smoothie is great for any time of day!

We all need a boost of vitamins and nutrients every now and then.

Smoothies don’t always need to be overly sweet and fruit-filled.

Raw vegetables like zucchini, carrots, and spinach make for great smoothie ingredients.

To add a bit of sweetness, I like adding a banana.

The banana also adds creaminess to the smoothie along with potassium and fiber.

For extra sweetness, I recommend adding honey or agave. This is optional of course.

Zucchini is a summer squash and though it looks like a vegetable, it is actually a fruit!

This green fruit is rich in minerals, vitamins and other beneficial plant compounds.

Spinach makes this drink beautifully green. It’s also a true nutritional powerhouse, as it’s rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

The carrots also add sweetness to this smoothie.

Carrots are a particularly good source of beta carotene, fiber, vitamin K1, potassium, and antioxidants.

They are a weight-loss-friendly food and have been linked to lower cholesterol levels and improved eye health.

Many high-quality studies show that turmeric has major benefits for your body and brain. Many of these benefits come from its main active ingredient, curcumin.

It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant.

Why do I add a small pinch of black pepper to this smoothie you ask?

Unfortunately, the curcumin in turmeric is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream, however, adding black pepper can help.

Piperine, bioactive compound in black pepper makes it easier for curcumin to pass through the intestinal wall and into your bloodstream.

This turmeric green smoothie is fully plant-based and can be made vegan.
