I have been making pressed juices at home for about 5 years now and I love it. I have never done any type of juice cleanse but I do believe that having a glass of pressed juice first thing in the morning or early afternoon is very beneficial to your health and happiness. I often get asked what I put into my juices and the honest answer is…anything and everything. I have added romaine lettuce, parsley, beets, grapes, even bell peppers! A lot of times I juice fruits and vegetables that are about to go bad or I don’t have any other plans for them. My juices usually have something tart like lemon or grapefruit, something that will give me volume like cucumber or romaine lettuce, something sweet like apple or pears, and the nutrient boosters like ginger or kale. I suggest throwing whatever you have into your juicer giving it a try!
Also, I highly recommend buying all organic produce as they are being consumed raw and taste better!
This recipe is what I consider a standard, beginner friendly green juice that tastes great and is detoxifying. I suggest making a big batch and having a small glass first thing in the morning!
What to do with the fiber and pulp that is let after all of the juice is squeezed out of the produce? You can grab it by the handfuls and run it through the juice again (you’ll be surprised how much mire juice you will be able to get out of it!) and if you have a garden, I recommend composting it.
